Software can play a vital role in proving your design or concept. Shadow has extensive experience producing innovative software components in a variety of languages, and can develop appropriate software as part of an engineering project.

API
Shadow has developed many types of interface software, allowing a variety of tools access to complex robot components. Typically, Shadow does this by producing a standardised API allowing user-level software to operate independently of the actual hardware system in use.

Control
Shadow has interfaced strange hardware to computers for most of its existence, and so has a large body of experience in the generation of control and device driver interfaces.

3d Interface
One of the more unusual programming projects Shadow has undertaken was the production of a 3d driving game as a demonstrator for a motion chair. Having the skills to develop any part of a system is vital to our work.

Shadow has extensive experience with the use and development of Free and Open Source software, and can provide advice and support to organisations considering making the transition to an open licensing model, or simply wishing to take advantage of the wealth of tools and components available. We have particular expertise in the use of real-time systems with Linux, and the development of deeply-embedded real-time components and controllers.
