About Our Company:

The Shadow Robot Company is a growing employee-owned, international and world-leading robotics company and we’re looking to expand our Bristol-based team.

There are 14 different nationalities in our team of 48 people. We are based in London, Bristol and Madrid with a handful of remote-based staff too.

Our values here at the Shadow Robot Company

  • We’re a family (the non-toxic kind).
  • We enjoy making the impossible happen.
  • No bullshit. No assholes.
  • Do it fast, then do it right.
  • Compassionate.

When we add new people to our team, wherever you’re based and whatever role you’re doing, you’ll see that we all live and breathe these core values.

Our new Software Engineer and Junior DevOps role

Your main task would be to extend and support our Hybrid infrastructure, mostly AWS cloud, but some local DevOps infrastructure as well, alongside our experienced software team.

The key software engineering and DevOps experience we’re interested in includes:

  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Experience in DevOps albeit at a junior level, with AWS and Ansible knowledge
  • At least one year’s commercial experience in software engineering (in addition to your university experience but could be a sandwich / third year in a commercial role)
  • Good knowledge of programming under Linux
  • You will have a very keen interest in robotics
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

Many of the team have an MSc or PhD but if you have a BSc or Masters which includes a heavy element of software engineering, computer science and/or robotics, then we’d love to hear from you.

If you’re a recent graduate with at least one year’s relevant work experience in software engineering with some DevOps (especially if it’s from within the robotics realm), then we would very much welcome your application.

About Your Role:

  • You’ll be a key member of our Product Development team working alongside our robotics software engineers, mechanical and electronics engineers and project managers.
  • This role is based in Bristol so that you have access to the hardware and can help us develop and test the solutions.
  • Our team of developers is distributed and so we’d love you to work well and communicate effectively with your team wherever they’re based in the world.

About Your Personality and Traits:

  • You love learning and thrive in an environment where learning is encouraged.
  • You’ll thrive as a member of a distributed team.
  • A positive outlook on solutions – you love solving problems.
  • Happy to get stuck in when needed.
  • There is no arrogance and you love the fact this is a team-orientated organisation – if one person succeeds, we all succeed.

We look forward to hearing from you soon. Please email Helen with your CV.

Salary: £32,000 to £36,000 depending on your experience

Our benefits package includes: EMI Share Scheme, flexible hours, 28 days holiday (plus 8 bank holidays)
