It’ll be our 25th silver anniversary since we formally registered as a company!

A bit of a weird year for us all. COVID-19 shakes the world. We continue to work with ANA on several initiatives, including being a thought leader for the $10M ANA Avatar XPRIZE competition.

• We lose our beloved Director, Nick Singer. Nick’s family donated his brain to a brain tissue bank for research on motor neurone disease. His jovial nature, love for the banjo and utmost dedication to Shadow are greatly missed.
• Our Shadow Dexterous Hand enters the realm of machine learning and artificial intelligence! It used as a research tool used by OpenAI, the Human Brain Project and Google Brain.
• Chris Skidmore, UK Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research, and Innovation exclusively announces a £650K boost for Shadow Robot to scale up the UK’s robotics sector. We also secure a contract with a large industrial client in Japan worth £150,000, promoted by UK’s International Trade Secretary, Liz Truss.
• The world’s first haptic telerobot hand arrives – a collaboration between Shadow, SynTouch and HaptX, funded and facilitated by All Nippon Airways (ANA). The technology can transmit touch and complete tasks cross-country. It’s later called the Tactile Telerobot and gains much popularity after Jeff Bezos, Amazons Founder & CEO tries it out for himself!
