We’re members of the WISE Campaign!

We are proud to announce that we have joined the WISE Campaign for gender balance in science, technology and engineering. We first heard about this campaign at the 9% is Not Enough conference earlier in the year; it campaign enables and energises people in business, industry and education to increase the participation, contribution and success of women in STEM. Their mission is to achieve gender parity in the UK’s scientific, technology and engineering workforce – from classroom to boardroom. That’s a pretty good mission!

We’re in good company – some of the finest organisations in the UK are also members, including Amazon, GSK, Jaguar Land Rover, Intel, the University of Oxford… the list goes on – and it’s impressive!

If you’re unsure why the WISE campaign exists, then have a look at these statistics that they have collated – it makes for unpleasant reading. For example, in 2016, women made up just 8% of professional engineering roles – a decrease from 9% the previous year. Yikes. We want the figures to be 50/50 – which is why it was so important for us to become members of this campaign.

WISE also offer lots of training and events (some women only, some open to everyone),  and they also offer individual membership which is free -so do have a look at their website to see what they offer in your area!
