Robo-Pack

A big challenge in agriculture is the lack of skilled people creating a direct threat to affordable and secure supply for the UK. Our aim is to develop an advanced robotic manipulator for the inspection and packing of fresh produce which takes place in pack houses. Initially, we’ll be trialling our tech with tomatoes. Shadow Robot is developing hardware where it can pick up tomatoes, give each one just enough of a squeeze without bruising to ensure it meets standards and place them into the right container – not an easy task, but we’re an ambitious bunch!
