We’re passionate and protective over our people, also known as the lightbulbs who make Shadow a brighter place to work.
Who better to answer this question than our Shadow employees? Here are some responses from an anonymous staff survey:
We have a strict “robots for good” policy. Sometimes, this involves us saying “no thank you” so that we can take a more positive stand. We screen each sale to ensure our tech responsibly used. Each proposal has the eyes of our Directors, and if we don’t like the idea, we won’t do it. We don’t, and never will sell our robots for military use.
We hope one day we wouldn’t need to add this to our website because it would just be the norm all around. Until then, we’d like to state that we have a policy where we ensure that no one feels left out or indifferent because of their age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, or other factors such as social background.
To prevent any accusations of discrimination or bias, we urge applicants NOT to attach or include their photo on CVs/resumes. We also request that CVs/resumes DO NOT include links to any personal social media accounts and website profiles where an image of you may be visible.

Shadow Robot does not accept unsolicited CVs from recruitment agencies. Any unsolicited CVs sent to us – that is to say, in any situation where we have not directly engaged your company, in writing, to supply candidates for a specific vacancy – will be considered by us to be a “free gift”. This will leave us liable for no fees whatsoever, should we choose to contact the candidate directly and/or engage the candidate’s services, and will in no way establish any prior claim by your company to representation of that candidate should the candidate’s details also be submitted by any other party.
Submission of any unsolicited CVs to us by your company will be deemed evidence of full and unlimited acceptance by your company of these terms, and agreement by your company that these terms are the totality of any commercial or contractual relationship whatsoever between our companies in respect of the candidate(s) whose unsolicited CVs were thus sent. If you’d like to send us your terms for consideration, please email email@example.com.
